Public Consultation on Homes and Homelessness Cuts?

Give Manchester City Council your thoughts on homelessness and housing-related support:

Manchester City Council have opened up a consultation process on their budget for 2015-2017. The process touches on a range of topics, but we at Generation Rent feel our supporters might be most interested in is the one on homelessness and housing-related support.

The council says its housing-related budget is £5.722million and it is looking at options which could save up to £2m. The savings will come from applying eligibility assessments for housing support, working to move people into longer term tenancies more quickly, looking at new ways of working with the homeless and domestic abuse survivors, keeping services for Manchester residents and others.

While many of these measures won’t have a direct impact on the majority of renters, we at Generation Rent have decided to flag it up to you, our supporters, in case you might be interested in having a say in the council’s wider duty to housing in Manchester.

The consultation is open until Sunday 1st February 2015. Go to to fill out the form.
